Housing Industry Worker Shortage Featured in Star Tribune

On Wednesday, the Star Tribune published an article highlighting the shortage of skilled workers and how it is impacting Twin Cities residential and commercial builders.

The article includes quotes from multiple Housing First Minnesota members and mentions the industry's efforts to help fill jobs: Project Build Minnesota. With costs and job opening on the rise, we are getting more creative in the creation of this marketing campaign aimed at "making construction sexy again," said David Siegel, Executive Director of Housing First Minnesota.

College was never something that appealed to me. I was eager to begin working and making my own career path. We make extremely good money, work reasonable hours, get to be active and build actual communities within the Twin Cities. I want young people to realize that it is not a step down to go into construction.
— James Mahler, Project Manager for River City Tile & Underlayment
