Housing Discussions with Gubernatorial Candidates Begin

The race to Nov. 6, 2018 has already begun. And highlighting next year's election will be the race to succeed Mark Dayton as Governor.

On Monday, two elected officials hoping to take over the executive branch each met with industry leaders of Housing First Minnesota to talk about housing issues, regulatory pressures, and our workforce challenges.

State Auditor Rebecca Otto (DFL) and Ramsey County Commissioner Blake Huffman (R) each spent one hour discussing housing affordability, the role of the Metropolitan Council, and a variety of other issues.

We know that regardless of who is elected, we need to be able to communicate the key issues that are facing the housing/construction industry. We are optimistic that our invitation to the candidates will be a great place to begin that discussion.
— Daryl Doehr, Housing First 2017 Chair

Over the coming weeks, all major gubernatorial candidates will be invited to meet with the task group of housing industry leaders.
