Focused Acts of Caring Help Families in Need
For more than 15 years, Lennar has partnered with Home Free, a Missions Inc. program, that provides emergency housing for battered women and children. Through the years, Lennar has raised over $600,000 in donations to support the shelter and assisted in numerous housing related issues such as donated furniture, remodeled kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, landscaping services and exterior repairs.
These donations alone provide major necessary support for Home Free, but at Lennar, giving back means much more than just offering help and fundraising. Whether it’s Easter egg hunts, summer fishing trips, pumpkin carving, or their annual Christmas celebrations, Lennar has made it their mission to truly be there for the shelter residents. Lennar has also established an on-site garden for residents to maintain and enjoy picking fresh fruits and vegetables.
“I think that all of us in the homebuilding industry are for- tunate to have a career that posi- tively impacts people’s lives in so many ways. Home Free affords us a unique opportunity to help women and children that are fleeing from domestic abuse,” said Bill Burgess, division president, Lennar. “Home free not only provides the safety and shelter these women need for their families, but helps set them on a path to get their life back. At Lennar, we have been blessed by all of the families that we have met through the years and in some small way were able to make a difference.”
All Lennar associates participate in these “Focused Acts of Caring” each year and it has become a major part of their culture. In the past 15 years their company culture has helped Home Free provide emergency housing and support for more than 7,500 women and children.
