The workforce shortage is continually talked about throughout the housing and construction industry. It promises to be one of the major issues facing our employers for the next five to ten years.
On Wednesday, the BATC-Housing First Minnesota Education & Workforce Development Committee discussed the variety of labor issues facing the industry with Jessica Looman, Deputy Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
"The biggest question is 'How do we connect with the people that are the future of the construction industry?'" said Looman.
Looman went on to explain the gradual steps of career exposure, career exploration and career readiness that are currently taking place and how the industry can partner with DLI and other government agencies to prepare Minnesota's future workforce.
Additionally, the progress of Project Build Minnesota was shared as building industry professionals, associations and organizations continue to spread the word of the career paths and opportunities available in our industries.
